Position :UI Designer
While we may call the title as UI Designer, I think we want to look for person who is also having knowledge about Interaction Design (personas, scenarios, wireframes creation), who is a UI Designer as well as UI Developer (able to code HTML, Java & CSS). Added advantage would be knowledge in Usability, Visual Design (creating mockup screens) and Print Design (for preparing marketing materials). Experience in working with WCM based webs can be a bonus (example Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal CMS systems).
All the above are separate roles really, but key is in calling the right title for the ad. We may not want to sound a profile asking for all the above in one post, however I hope the following can help find a closer match:
Required Skills:
Ability to prototype, create mockup screens
Proficient with Office communication tools (Word, Spreadsheet, Presentation)
Fluency with web standards and technologies, including: CSS, HTML, JavaScript
Knowledge of usability and coding practices
Strong web graphics production capability and experience with Flash, Visio and other mockup tools
Experience with methodologies such as SCRUM, Iterative development, Agile, etc
Creative approach to problem solving, innovation and issue resolution
Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate actively and proactively with others in a cross-functional team
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and as a presenter
Self-motivated and self-managed
Strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering highly-polished prototypes
Bachelors Degree in related field (Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction or Experimental Psychology, with a specialty in computer software user interface design )
Technical Skills:
Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator, Flash)
HTML, CSS, Java
Translating user requirements into usable user interfaces using conventional UI components
Sketching personas, scenarios, wireframes, storyboards, design description documents, etc.
Knowledge on design skills for print (International print sheet sizes and CMYK processes)
Knowledge on working with different image format compressions (SVG, PNG, JPG, GIF, ICO, etc.)
